SUMMARY

This dialogue revisited Peter Eisenman’s Wexner Center for the Arts, one of the first buildings realized by an architect then known primarily for his writing and teaching. It assessed the project decades after its completion, reconsidered its resonances with postmodernism, and explored how it fits within the decade-long development of the “artificial excavation” projects, a series designed by Eisenman, Robertson, and landscape architect Laurie Olin between 1978 and 1988.
