SUMMARY
BIOGRAPHY
Stan Allen is an American architect, educator, and architectural theorist whose work bridges design practice, urbanism, and critical theory. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from The Cooper Union, and completed a Master of Architecture at Princeton University. Early in his career, he worked in the offices of Richard Meier in New York and Rafael Moneo in Spain. In 1991, Allen founded Stan Allen Architect, pursuing a practice that runs parallel to his academic and theoretical work, with projects ranging from houses and studios to urban and landscape-oriented designs. He has held major academic positions at Columbia University and Princeton University, where he served as Dean of the School of Architecture from 2002 to 2012, significantly influencing architectural education and discourse. In recent years, he has continued teaching as visiting faculty at Harvard Graduate School of Design and The Cooper Union, while holding emeritus status at Princeton.
