Vitruvius
Dialogue
SUMMARY
This dialogue addressed Vitruvius and his Ten Books on Architecture. It considered the work as a whole, as well as its key sections on the education of the architect, the origins of the orders, the relationship between theory and practice, the triad of Firmness, Commodity, and Delight, and the concepts of design Vitruvius developed: ordinatio, dispositio, eurythmia, symmetria, decorum, and distributio. The dialogue situated Vitruvius within the context of his time and examined the role his work has played in shaping architectural discourse over the past two thousand years.
