SUMMARY

This dialogue focused on the body of architectural work in Switzerland that became an object of widespread international interest in the 1990s, including the work of Herzog & de Meuron, Peter Zumthor, Gigon/Guyer, and Peter Märkli, among others. It explored the historical and philosophical questions surrounding why this body of work emerged and why it possessed a coherence that allowed it to be viewed collectively; what its formal and aesthetic characteristics were; what its theoretical background was; and what its legacy has been.
