BIOGRAPHY

Joy Knoblauch, PhD is an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Michigan where she coordinates the Design Health concentration. She is the author of The Architecture of Good Behavior, Psychology and Modern Institutional Design in Postwar America. She is currently writing a history of resistance to technology focusing on ergonomics from 194x-2000.

Lara Schrijver is professor in architecture theory at the University of Antwerp. She has published widely on twentieth-century architecture and its theories. Her recent books include Oswald Mathias Ungers and Rem Koolhaas (2021) and the co-edited volume Women in Architecture. (2023)

Sara Stevens is an architectural historian and an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Her book, Developing Expertise (Yale University Press, 2016), studies real estate development in twentieth century U.S. cities. She was a co-curator with the collective Architects Against Housing Alienation of the Canada Pavilion at the 2023 Architecture Biennale in Venice.

Alex Maymind is an educator, designer, and architectural historian. He is an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Architecture where he most recently served as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from UCLA and a Master of Architecture from Yale University School of Architecture. (Moderator)
